WELS podcasts: Passage, Paragraph, and Prayer

Podcast: Passage, Paragraph, and Prayer

Hosts: Rev. Nathaniel Biebert

Description: Each episode of this biweekly devotional podcast “consists of a passage from the Bible, a paragraph meditating on that passage, and a closing prayer.” Nathaniel Biebert, pastor at Trinity, Winner, S.D., began this podcast in November 2021.

A taste of previous topics: Passage, Paragraph, and Prayer offers short, Scripture-centered meditations perfectly suited for today’s on-the-go Christians. Each week, Biebert releases two episodes: one focused on the book of Genesis and another on Psalms. He explains, “It has often been said that all of the Bible’s theology is found explicitly or implicitly in just the first three chapters of Genesis.” The brief episodes methodically unpack the meaning of individual verses and highlight God’s plan for humanity, the roles of men and women, Sabbath rest, the institution of government, the Lord’s overarching plan for salvation, and much more. In the Psalms series, Biebert explores David’s words of prayer, praise, supplication, joy, fear, and anguish—and everything in between—in connection with the historical events of David’s life as well as the lives of believers today.

Length: About 3–5 minutes per episode

Some thoughts: Biebert’s approach is concise and thoughtful, making it easy to fit meaningful devotion and prayer into even the busiest schedule. Many episodes even include cross-references to other Scripture passages to help listeners see how God’s plan remains consistent throughout the Bible. With just two brief episodes each week, Passage, Paragraph, and Prayer offers a consistent mode of biblical reflection that listeners will find enriching and accessible.
