Podcast: Double Portion: Twin Lutheran Pastors

Hosts: Chris and Tony Pflughoeft

Description: “Twin Lutheran pastors serving in Southern California discussing the intersection of studying Scripture and Christian living.”

A taste of previous topics: Double Portion is hosted by twin brothers, WELS pastors Chris and Tony Pflughoeft. Tony is pastor at Christ the Vine, Temecula, Calif., and Chris is pastor at Grace, Yorba Linda, Calif. In their first episode, they shared that they saw an opportunity for “a confessionally Lutheran voice addressing really practical areas of Christian living.” Their video podcast looks at topics and questions like: How can I avoid sin as a Christian? Is it okay for Christians to complain? What do I do when the Bible doesn’t tell me exactly what to do? The answers are not always simple, and Chris and Tony don’t shy away from diving deep into the various nuances and perspectives involved.

Some thoughts: For the most part, Double Portion is aimed toward Lutheran, churchgoing families or individuals who want to take a closer look at the way their faith is lived out in everyday life. The Pflughoeft brothers’ tone is conversational while still being rooted in Scripture and Lutheran doctrine. Viewers will often see Chris and Tony flipping through their Bibles to look up verses that come to mind as they converse. The hour-long YouTube episodes are largely unedited, which lends validity to the feeling of sitting down for a relaxed conversation with a couple of WELS pastors.
