Book nook: Bible studies for women

book, pink, women bible studySince life is full of so many things that vie for our attention, it can be a challenge to find time to have a consistent devotional life. Or maybe you don’t struggle to find the time, but you don’t always know what to study or have trouble finding quality study materials. If you struggle with any of these things—you are not alone!

5-Minute Bible Studies for Women is a wonderful resource for personal Bible study or women’s Bible study groups. Eleven female writers lead us through the gospel of Luke in an organized and relatable way, breaking the book into sections and helping women apply the accounts to their own lives. The studies are short and to the point, but they do not lack in quality. Each devotion is relatable, personal, and brings the selected portion of Scripture to life.

The writers include two questions at the end of each study, which are helpful prompts in a Bible study group or for reflection in personal Bible study. Each study also concludes with a prayer prompt. The prayer prompts are just that: prompts. They are not prescribed, generic prayers. Rather, they encourage you to craft a unique prayer that ties the devotional thoughts into your personal circumstances.

The length of the studies makes it accessible to all women. The questions are pointed enough to evoke thoughtful answers but open-ended enough to allow for reflection and discussion. Readers or Bible study leaders could certainly add more questions.

As a busy mom, I often feel overwhelmed or underprepared to have personal devotion time or lead a women’s Bible study. However, this book was a game-changer for me. I found myself looking forward to each study, and I always felt spiritually edified after completing them.
