Partnering to spread God’s Word in Kenya and Ethiopia
In October 2022, WELS President Mark Schroeder visited two of WELS’ sister synods in Africa—the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ–Kenya and the Lutheran Church of Ethiopia. Larry Schlomer, administrator of WELS World Missions, and Howard Mohlke, head of WELS’ One Africa Team, traveled with Schroeder. WELS partners with national church bodies in six countries in Africa and is exploring outreach in at least seven more countries throughout the continent.

Pictured here with those pastors and evangelists are Dan Witte (second row), a theological educator on WELS’ One Africa Team, and E. Allen Sorum (back row, left), a Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary professor who serves as a member of the Pastoral Studies Institute. Witte and Sorum spent time this fall teaching these men more about God’s Word and evangelism.
