Happy anniversary!
SEW—First Lutheran, Elkhorn, Wis., celebrated the 40th anniversary of its school on May 16 and will celebrate the 150th anniversary of its congregation on Sept. 26.
On May 16, Bethany, Kenosha, Wis., celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Northern Wisconsin
Trinity, Wabeno, Wis., hosted an Easter for kids outreach event on March 27. Around 80 children (more than 100 total people) attended. The event included an Easter egg hunt, religious Easter crafts and gifts, prizes, and Easter cookies. Trinity uses the event to personally invite families to Holy Week services.
South Central
Holy Cross, Oklahoma City, Okla., dedicated a new fellowship outreach hall on Aug. 23, 2020. Pictured are (left to right) John Strackbein, liturgist for the dedication service, and John Hering, the guest preacher.
Pacific Northwest
Cross of Christ, Boise/Nampa, Idaho, hosted “Experience Easter,” a family outreach event held the weekend before Easter. Members designed, painted, and built five stations, and then volunteers narrated the Bible stories that went with those stations. The stations included the institution of the Lord’s Supper, Jesus praying in Gethsemane, Jesus’ arrest, Jesus’ crucifixion, and the resurrection. At each station, families added one element to their “resurrection garden,” which they took home and watched grow over the week.
Southeastern Wisconsin
Lighthouse Youth Center, Milwaukee, Wis., celebrated its 15th anniversary on April 28. Lighthouse, a WELS-affiliated ministry, offers youth a safe place to enjoy fellowship and have fun, be surrounded by responsible and compassionate Christian leaders, receive homework support, and hear the love of their Savior. Lighthouse has hosted more than 124,373 visits and served more than 5,200 young people. Lighthouse has also helped more than 30 youth enjoy the blessing of baptism.
