What's inside

Travel with us as we visit two important gardens from the Bible: the Garden of Eden, where man first sinned, and the Garden of Gethsemane, where our Savior was betrayed and arrested. What do they have in common? They are places where God’s love for all sinners is on display: first in God’s promise to send his Son to pay for our sins and then in Jesus’ willingness to surrender himself for sins that were not his own. The journey will continue in April’s issue, with visits to the garden that held Jesus’ tomb and to the symbolic garden of the new Eden in Revelation.

Lent can sometimes make us feel guilty. After all, our sins are why Jesus came to earth to suffer and die. Greg Lyon reminds us, however, that God wants our broken hearts. He wants us to confess and repent—and then bask in the forgiveness that is ours as we share our joy in Jesus with the world.
