What's inside

The year 2025 marks the 175th anniversary of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. You’ll be seeing photos and articles throughout the year sharing more about 175 years of Christ working through us. But why is our history so important as we look forward to the future? Find out in this article by Prof. Joel Otto.

In this month’s “Free in Christ” article, three authors tackle an important topic for congregations: member involvement. But the article doesn’t just highlight getting members engaged in ministry within the church. Each author also shares important thoughts about discovering how members can use their unique talents, gifts, and interests to serve God in his kingdom at-large.

Several articles this month demonstrate that very concept. Our cover story shows a member immersing himself in the Word, showing his love for the Lord by copying the Bible. In “Confessions of faith,” you’ll meet Joann, a woman who had struggled through abuse and homelessness but now has discovered a life of service to her Savior out of thanksgiving for his blessings to her.
