Luteranos Confesionales Colombia

Luteranos Confesionales Colombia celebrated 50 years of preaching God’s Word in Colombia in February. What began as a three-man WELS missionary team to this Latin American mission field has now extended through national leadership into many new cities in Colombia and continues to exponentially grow through the online presence of Academia Cristo. Pictured are Pastor Tonny and Martha Quintero, Pastor Henry and Eliana Herrera, and Missionary Larry and Marlene Schlomer. Quintero is pastor at Most Holy Trinity in Medellín and an early member of the Colombian church; Herrera is president of the new Latin American church body called Iglesia Cristo WELS Internacional; the Schlomers lived and served as missionaries in Colombia from 1977–1983.

Global Theological Education Commission of the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Confer- ence

In February, the Global Theological Education Commission of the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Conference (CELC) hosted a first-of-its-kind online conference for Lutheran theological educators (pictured). Fifty-eight educators from 21 countries learned more about each other and their specific theological programs as well as explored ways to help and support each other in the future. “We learned that we are not alone in the work of training the next generation of pastors,” says Bradley Wordell, chairman of the commission and director of continuing education at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wis. “We counted God’s blessings, listened to each other, prayed for each other, and encouraged each other.” Learn more about the CELC at celc.info.
