On Aug. 9, Divine Savior Academy–Sienna, Missouri City, Texas, celebrated the grand opening of its new building, which includes 27 new classrooms, a gym, and a chapel.

On Aug. 18, Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Milwaukee, Wis., celebrated the 40th anniversary in the teaching ministries of Jim Brandt, Joel Mattek, Craig Radue, Blair Schaper, John Sebald, and Denyse Schumacher as well as the 25th anniversary in the teaching ministry of Brian Gottschalk.

St. John, Tappen, N.D., celebrated its 100th anniversary on Aug. 18.

St. Paul, Tomah, Wis., celebrated its 150th anniversary on Aug. 18.

English Lutheran Church, Viroqua, Wis., celebrated its 75th anniversary on Aug. 18.

On Sept. 8, St. Paul, Hazelton, N.D., celebrated the 50th anniversary in the pastoral ministry of Eugene Roecker.

On Sept. 8, St. Peter’s, Balaton, Minn., celebrated its 140th anniversary.

Trinity (Trinity West), Mequon, Wis., held its final service on Sept. 8 after 157 years of ministry.

St. Paul, Berlin, Wis., celebrated its 125th anniversary on Sept. 15.

On July 20, participants from 38 churches and 5 states participated in the WELS Western Wisconsin District Sunday School Conference at St. Paul, Wonewoc, Wis. Donn Dobberstein, director of WELS Discipleship, presented the keynote address, “Breathe new life into your Sunday school ministry.”

Natalie Popp (left), a junior at Lakeside Lutheran High School, Lake Mills, Wis., met Lew, a veteran who served in three wars—World War II, Korea, and Desert Storm—while volunteering together at a local food pantry.
