Trust in the Lord

Your understanding isn’t in control of your life. God is.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5).

Do you need that encouragement today? I do. Like a walking stick that breaks when you lean on it, our understanding can’t handle the weight of life’s challenges. But God can! So . . .

When it doesn’t make sense to you . . . trust in the Lord.

When life is the opposite of what you expected . . . trust in the Lord.

When your plans fail . . . trust in the Lord.

When you’ve messed up everything . . . trust in the Lord.

When you don’t understand . . . trust in the Lord.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5).

Your understanding isn’t in control of your life. God is. Your understanding isn’t the foundation of your life. God is. Isn’t that wonderful?

Remember what the Lord is like . . .

The Lord who created you unique and special.

The Lord who sent his Son to save you by dying on the cross.

The Lord who knew every day of your life even before you were born.

The Lord who has prepared a room for you in heaven through faith in Jesus.

The Lord who has forgiven all your sins.

The Lord who loves you more than you can understand.

When you lean on your own understanding, don’t be surprised when you plunge into despair. When you learn to trust in the Lord with all your heart, don’t be surprised when God fills your heart with peace, even in the most difficult situations.
