Erik Alair at graduation martin luther statue

Step by step

As a young adult studying aerospace engineering in California, Erik Alair never dreamed that he would someday graduate from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wis., fully prepared to be a WELS pastor. Step by step—through many different church bodies and challenges—the Lord slowly revealed the path Erik would take.

Erik was baptized in an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America church in Solvang, California. Solvang, a Scandinavian town, was significant to the Alair family because of their Danish heritage. “My great-grandfather, Frantz-Oluf Lund, was actually a Danish minister from Denmark who was sent to Los Angeles as a missionary,” Erik explains. “He planted a Danish church there, and he would preside over services in Danish.”

Q&A: Should Christians pray to saints?

Q&A 2023 Dave Scharf
Say a child wants something from his or her parents. That child’s best chance to get what is requested is by asking the “golden child” older sibling, whose family status is higher, to go to the parents and present that request. The parents may be more inclined to grant . . .
