New devotion writer: Jeremiah Gumm

This month, Jeremiah Gumm, pastor at King of Kings, Maitland, Fla., joins Forward in Christ as a contributing editor.

A 2005 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wis., Gumm’s first congregation—Cross of Christ—was a mission restart in Liverpool, N.Y. While there, he also helped to plant Redemption, Watertown, N.Y. In 2018, Gumm completed a second master’s degree in church history before accepting a call to King of Kings.

Gumm met his wife, Lisa, at Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn. Now, the couple is blessed with four children—Adelaide (17), Matthias (14), Clara (12), and Muriel (8). Their oldest two children will attend Luther Preparatory School, Watertown, Wis., in the fall. Lisa currently serves as preschool director and teacher at King of Kings.

May devotion

Read Jeremiah Gumm's first devotion, "More than enough," based on 2 Corinthians 12:9, "[The Lord] said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."
