Home congregation: St. Mark, DePere, Wis.
Family details: Jenni has been married to Tad for almost 18 years. They have 5 children—4 biological and their niece, who they welcomed into their family in January 2017. Their children range in age from 8-16. Sometimes they have other children under their roof as well because Tad and Jenni are licensed foster parents. Their children have attended parochial school, home school, charter school and public school depending on their needs. Jenni is a life coach, Bible study leader, and speaker. She notes, “My mission in my work and my home is to strive to be a light of God’s love as I walk with and help others see their potential in God’s kingdom through their daily living. I’m not always successful with that, but by the grace of God, he allows me to have an impact in his kingdom.”
What portion of Scripture do you refer to most often as a parent? 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
I often try to figure out what God’s will is for myself and for my children. It is easy for me to get hung up on these things. Then I look at this verse, so simple and yet so profound.
What’s the best piece of parenting advice you’ve ever received? “Success in parenting is that your children know who they are in Jesus. Their outcome does not belong to you. Their outcome belongs to Christ.”
Through its monthly magazine, Forward in Christ addresses important issues facing Christians today.
