Executive editor stands with Luther on the Scriptures

WELS' 66th biennial convention began on Monday evening (July 26) with an opening worship service at Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, Wis.

Forward in Christ's executive editor, John Braun, spoke to synod convention delegates on Tuesday afternoon. He introduced a new video titled Here we stand that was shown to delegates. The video highlights the events surrounding Martin Luther's stand at the Diet of Worms and how we, too, must continue to stand on Scripture today. In September, a Bible study based on this video, written by Braun, will be available from Northwestern Publishing House. Braun concluded by noting, "We still stand on the Scriptures because of Christ."

Following the video, Earle Treptow, president of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, presented his essay on the same theme.

In April, Braun wrote an article for Forward in Christ commemorating the 500th anniversary of Luther's speech at the Diet of Worms. Read "Scripture alone" for a more detailed account of the event and its importance for us today.

Keep your eyes open for more synod convention coverage in the September issue of Forward in Christ.
